Cart Information
New Cart Distribution
Will I receive new trash and recycling carts?
Coastal will deliver one blue 65-gallon recycling cart and one green 95-gallon trash cart to each home within the city limits starting on October 15. The process will take several weeks to complete, so please be patient if your neighbor receives their new cart and you have not yet received yours.
- Blue recycle cart distribution will begin on October 15.
- Green garbage cart distribution will begin on November 12.
What do I do with my old carts?
The recovery process will begin immediately once new carts are distributed. Please start using your new carts as soon as you receive them. Leave your old carts out on the curb (empty of material) until retrieved. Cart pick-up can take up to 1 to 3 days after your new carts are delivered. City Code Enforcement is aware of the transition, and you will not be cited.
Can I change the size of my cart? Is there a charge?
Additional information will be available soon from Coastal providing instructions for cart exchange options.
Who do I contact if my new bin is damaged?
Please contact Coastal Waste & Recycling at 954-866-4738.
Garbage Carts
Garbage is collected twice a week. All garbage, including vegetative materials and yard trash (palm fronds, coconuts, grass clippings, twigs, etc.) must be placed inside the cart with the lid closed. Only vegetative material and yard trash that is too large to fit in your cart should be set out for bulk removal.
Roll your cart to the curb by 7:00 a.m. on collection day. The cart handle must face away from the street, with the lid opening facing the roadway. Return your cart to its storage area that same day.
Please bag all garbage to keep carts clean and odor-free.
Only City-provided carts will be collected. Resident-owned cans or containers WILL NOT be serviced.
Any material left outside of the cart or placed on top of the cart WILL NOT be collected.
Recycling Carts
Recycling is collected once a week. Coral Springs offers its residents “single stream” recycling. This means all recyclable material can be placed in the cart together.
ALL recyclable material must be placed in your cart loosely, not bagged. Acceptable recyclable materials include aluminum and tin cans; glass bottles and jars; plastic bottles; magazines; newspapers; and flattened cardboard.
Roll your cart to the curb by 7:00 a.m. on collection day. The cart handle must face away from the street, with the lid opening facing the roadway. Return your cart to its storage area that same day.
Collection Time
Please do not count on your collection time being the same every day. Collection times will vary based on traffic, the amount of materials collected, and potential changes in routing. You risk missing your pick-up if you do not place your container out by 7:00 a.m. on your scheduled pick-up day. The container can not be emptied if it is not outside by the specified time and placed properly at the edge of the street with the handle facing your home.

Hurricane Preparedness
Prior to the storm's arrival, safely secure your garbage and recycling carts inside your garage or residence. Garbage and recycling services may be suspended during this time. After the storm, separate vegetative waste (trees and shrubs) from other bulky items and garbage to ensure proper recycling efforts. Normal garbage and recycling collection services will resume as soon as roads are accessible.
We will share information as soon as we restart operations; for real-time updates, please check our website.
Holiday Collection
Thanksgiving Day (last Thursday in November) and Christmas Day (December 25th) are the only days that waste services are suspended. If your service day falls on either or both of those days, your garbage and/or recycling will be collected on the next regularly scheduled collection day. If you are an absentee owner, please forward this information on to your tenants.
To accommodate the additional amount of garbage and recycling generated during the holidays, extra material will be accepted during the week of December 26th through January 1st. Extra material must be bagged/tied and placed next to the full carts.
Illegal Dumping
Illegal dumping is a crime. In fact, it is a FELONY. Please report anyone illegally dumping by calling Broward Sheriff's Office at 954-764-4357.
